What will you do when the sky just can't be blue anymore?
When the green in the leaves gives away, turns to grey, will you pay for my ticket to Mars?
What will you do when the sky just can't be blue anymore?
When you and your rich friends try to leave me and my friends here to suffocate,
Maybe I'll find my way
Through the stars
(There's not one word that could fix the mess we've made
there's not one word that could atone for everything)

So far I have come, just in time to sit and gather my strength
Ginny sits and Ginny speaks, we take a walk down the street
We step on cherries
My lover sleeps, then theres me
My sister sleeps against to the wall
But I don't sleep, I let the stars roll in
And before I know it, there's the sun
(I dream of bobcats that jump and lunge at me, but I do not fear them)
I chew a figment gum ball, it tastes of wintergreen
I recall all the shame of a small midwestern dream that
I could love and do my thing
My lover sleeps, then there's me
My sister sleeps against the wall
But i don't sleep, I let the stars roll in
And before I know it, theres the sun
(I dream of bobcats that jump and lunge at me, I do not fear them)
July came, and she went, and she left a volcanic rock - in my hand
she picked it up for me when she was abroad at the temple of mercury
O, the dreams she brought!
O, the dreams she brought!!
O, the dreams she brought!!!
O, the dreams she brought!!!!

Green Billz
03:06
|
|

I'd like to see how these green bills get made,
What's the big idea anyway?
The tide is out and the blue herons are on the shores of the West Bay
I manipulate my hair in such a way that theres no chance it'd fall out of place
Two elastics on every tail never fails
Last spring two horses on the corner by our old house with their coats on made me feel some kind of way about everything, one horse with spots, the other all grey
Cleared my concrete stairway free of autmunal leaves, swept while I talked with my dad about my dreams
I hate the dollar bill, tell me what will we do when she's had enough, eat the bill to get thru?
I manipulate my hair in such a way that there's no chance it fall out of place
Two elastics on every tail never fails
Calypso sleeps on my bed, watching me do my thing in five directions at once, everything comes together with me

Vampire City
02:02
|
|
||
Silk lined suit jackets and slip dresses from the mall
When I look around, I see no people I know
It's in the nightfall that my people come out of the underground
It's a vampire city
Where the salt water pools and the crabs walk their line
And the freight ship spills their diesel fuel
And the bioluminescent jellyfish come the day after a sunshiney day
Silk lined suit jackets and slip dresses from the mall
When I look around, I see no people that I know
It's in the nightfall that my people come out of the underground
It's a vampire city

When we wake up, we fill our cup
We get in our cars, we walk down the block,
We go to our jobs, and we auto-accommodate
When we have lunch, we sit and talk
All is okay, if just for a moment
We laugh at what we heard someone else say
We’re done and we’re on our way
Our feet are aching, and our backs are tired
So ere bedtime we lay and watch stories, and we eat strawberries
We relish in free time, free time
When we wake up, we fill our cup
It is Wednesday, no work but our own to get done
walk down to the city,
We go to a show,
trade dollars for a pretty night
with my ears jammed up with the wall
of screeching noise and sound,
the bass in my belly like a beast
When we fall asleep, the fuzz sits in our ears
we are happy to be here, to be here

Rise & Fall
01:45
|
|
||
rise and fall, i rise and i fall
i picked a flower and kept it for myself
tried to give another one to someone else
but at the end of the day it was left on the shelf
rise and fall, we rise and we fall
with our eyes we stare at a scrying mirror
tried to shake the feeling it brings when its near
but at the end of the day, we hold it close and dear
rise and fall, i rise and i fall
i picked some flowers and gave them all away
tried to keep the prettiest one for my bab-y
at the end of the day, empty handed,
all i can do for you, is
work on myself
and all you can do for me is
work on yourself
and i believe in the power
we can harness
rise and fall, rise and fall, rise and fall, rise aand fall

Spinnin' On
01:52
|
|
||
It doesn't seem to matter what I do
A tree will grow its fruits
The fruits will rot after they fall
They go unnoticed til theres nothing left at all
I feel the cracks beneath my feet
The world is spinnin on without me
I feel the tremor in your hands
The world is spinnin on by chance
It doesn't seem to matter where I go
A bird will find a place to build its nest
The men could cut down every tree
The wind is blowing til theres nothin left
I feel the cracks along my bones
The world is spinning I suppose
I feel a certain kind of pounding in my chest
The world is spinning on I guess

Omens
02:22
|
|
||
I can't tell if I'm down to earth, or if I just walk around a lot
Sometimes there are omens, and plants that grow where there's nothing left
One dead crow on the bricks lining the cliff on the side of the street
I can't tell if I'm doing great til I see my friends I've had since I was a teen
Sometimes there are blackberry seeds in my teeth, I'll dig em up, or chew them up, or spit em out
I grin like an opossum when you get close to me, I'll wrap my tail around you
I can't tell if I'm feeling pain or pleasure it's all the same
I just know I'd hold your hand when you need it
Buzzed the hair from atop my head, left some hair long in the back
I can't tell if its the people or the place, but either way, I will be okay
One dead moth on the stove, flying too close to the flame
I don't spend too much time thinking of what could've been
I'm just making moves for what could be

11 July

I got you a gift on 11 July
I looked in the place that I thought I might find
I went to the place I have never been before
and now I sit in the sprinkling, right before 4
I got you a gift today
and it seems it was the right one
I gave you a gift of a teacher
I gave you a gift, for that is what I cannot give
His words are all, his words are true
I yearn to hear them from you

Eyes in Cars
02:58
|
|
||
Walked down the hill, looked at by eyes in cars
Eyes in glass, look straight at a young mortal with dark circles,
Circulating and accumulating,
They carry on, they carry on, singing at the sun
People in the street ask for some change, for fare
They wear not headphones round the town
Even if they’ve not a dime to give, they always have a smile
They hear them, they hear the cry, they carry on --
Singing at the sun, singing at the sun
They are tired, they are tired
A bringer of change is what they seek
They must to be the symbol of peace
They carry on, they carry on, singing at the sun
Interference in my sleep
Dreams of shopping malls, and people hurting me
I dream of friendly faces, in my favorite stores
They distract me to my very core
Interference in my day
Looked at by eyes in cars, they see me clear
She's rogue in the system, dare they box me right up?!
Look to my hand of play, I carry on, this time with intention
I carry on, I carry on, singing at the sun
Someone must hear the song
